Facts about Young Brothers
Legal Defense Foundation
Who we are:
We are a non profit
organization. YBLDF is unique because we take a proactive approach in
preventing the innocent from being wrongfully convicted due to inadequate legal
counsel. YBLDF offers assistance both pre and post conviction. Most organizations
only
provide assistance post conviction. Once a person has been wrongfully convicted,
it takes years of appeals
and legal work before he or she is exonerated.
What we do:
We provide financial assistance and support to people who have been falsely accused
and/or convicted
of a crime and can not shoulder the burden of legal fees. Our services range
from purchasing trial clothes to
paying (in part or in full) other legal related expenses.
Why we exist:
Innocent men
and women are wrongfully convicted of crimes every day because they are
unable to afford an attorney.
Our Goals In The Young Case:
1. We are working on getting
national coverage in the media regarding the Young case so that the public will
be aware of the grave injustice that occurred in this case and many other cases
in the United States.
It is our goal to expose the corruption and speed up the
process of appeal in this case. These men are facing execution for a crime they
did not commit. This case should be appealed for many reasons including the fact
that police officers admitted to tampering with and destroying exculpatory
evidence. An appeal should be granted on the fact that the judge was openly
biased and pro prosecution in the courtroom and during trial proceedings. There
is an abundance of misconduct and reasonable doubt in
this case; therefore, the Young brothers should be given a new trial.
2. We will also have available a news article/press release so that AP wire,
black newspapers and other
national media can cover this case, investigate or at least inquire about what
is happening in this unusual
case.
3. We are looking for international support and for people all over the
world to take a stand against this type of injustice. We must stop the manipulation
of our legal system and
its unfairness to the minority.
4. Help build the Young family/ YOUNG BROTHERS LEGAL DEFENSE FOUNDATION so that
they are able
to afford an appellate attorney, lawyers they currently do not have.
5. Encourage people to vote so that they will become more
involved in the
legislative process in their community.
6. Use the book, once published, as a vehicle of knowledge so that people are
aware of what is going on in
these California communities.
